Question 6 : Convert 4837 into an equivalent number with base 8 (octal system).

a) ​\( (10365)_8 \)​           b) ​\( (10355)_8 \)​           c) ​\( (10345)_8 \)​               d) ​\( (10145)_8 \)

Solution:

To convert 4837 into an equivalent number with base 8 we successively divide it with 8 as under;

 

Remainder terms of successive division are to be written from bottom to top as ​\( (10345))8 \)

 

So , 4387 is equivalent to ​\( (10345)_8 \)​ in octal system
