Question 2 : Factorize x2+5x-36

Question 2 : Factorize x2+5x-36

Types of mathematical expressions —

Solution:

In this question exercises of factorization the expression is;

x^2+5x-36

Here we make two parts of 5x i-e 9x and -4x such that these two parts;

1- when add i-e;

(9x)+(-4x) =5x

2- when multiplied

i-e

(9x)(-4x) =-36x

So to factorize given type of mathematical expression, we can write;

x^2+5x-36

=x^2+9x-4x-36

=x(x+9)-4(x+9)

=[x(x+9)-(x-4)]

Now (x+9) can be taken as common;

=(x+9)[x-4]

or

=(x+9)(x-4)
