Question 2. Factorize the expression 9 x y -12 x 2 y + 18y 2

Question 2. Factorize the expression  9xy+12x ^{2}y+18y^{2}

Factorization methods —

Solution:

9xy+12x ^{2}y+18y^{2}

In this expression 3y is common among all three terms ;

9xy+12x ^{2}y+18y^{2}

=3y(3x+4x^{2}+6y)

So, 3y and (3x+4x^{2}+6y) are two factors of given expression.

Check:

If we multiply 3y with (3x+4×2+6y), then we will get the original expression

3y.3x+3y.4×2+3y.6y= 9xy+12x ^{2}y+18y^{2}
