Word Problem 5

Problem 5: An amount was invested in stock exchange shares. The face value of each share at the time of buying was Rs 90 each. The price of shares increased to Rs 100 each after one year at stock rate of 4%. What was the amount invested?

Solution:

Marked Price of share = Rs 90

Annual Income = Rs 100

Rate = 4

Using formula;

No. Of Shares = \frac{Income }{Rate}\Rightarrow No. Of Shares = \frac{100 }{4}

\Rightarrow No. Of Shares = 25

Now,

Investment = No. of Share\times Price of one share

Investment = 25\times 90 = Rs 2250

So the investment was Rs 2259/-
