Kinematics Numerical 2: A sprinter completes its 100 meter race in 12s. Find its average speed.

Solution:

Here we are given that;

Distance=S= 100 m

Time =t= 12 sec

Average Speed = V=?

We have formula;

\[ Distance=AverageSpeed \times TimeTaken \]

or

\[ S= V\times t \]

from this we get,

\[ V=\frac{S}{t}=\frac{100}{12}=8.33\frac{m}{sec} \]

 

So the average speed is 8.33 meter per seconds.
