Problem 2: In what proportion must a grosser mix rice at Rs 1.2 per kg and Rs 1.44 per kg, so as to make the mixture worth Rs 1.26 per kg?

a) 18: 24         b) 1:3               c) 3:4                    d) 2:5

Solution:

Lets suppose the rice types be Rice1 and Rice2

Data can be arranged as under;

Now the price of mixture should be equale to sum of prices of both types separately;

i-e;

mixture price = price of Rice 1 + Price of Rice 2

So the ratio should be 1:3
