Question : The perimeter of a rectangular park is 400 feet. The length of the park is 40 feet longer than its width. What is the length of the park?

Answer:

Since the park length is 2 inches on the map but actual length of the rectangular park is 400 feet – we can say;

400 feet=2inches

\Rightarrow 1 foot = \frac{2}{400}inches

\Rightarrow 100 feet = \frac{2}{400}inches\times100

\Rightarrow 100 feet = \frac{200}{400}inches

\Rightarrow 100 feet = \frac{2}{4}inches

\Rightarrow 100 feet = \frac{1}{2}inches

\Rightarrow 100 feet = 0.5inches

So, if park is 100 feet wide then it will be 0.5 inches on the map.
