Question 1: Factorize 9 x 2 + 21 x − 8

Factorization exercises — Factorization examples

Solution:

To see as how to evaluate an expression for factorization, we write it;

9x^2+21x-8

If we multiply first term with third term we get  -72x^2

so,

We break mid term i-e 21x in two parts whose sum is 21x but product is -72x^2

we write it as

\[ =9x^2+24x-3x-8 \]

Taking 3x common from first two terms and -1 common from last two terms – we get

\[ =3x(3x+8)-(3x+8) \]

So finally from the whole string we get (3x+8) as common i-e

\[ =(3x+8){3x-1) \] Digiprove sealCopyright secured by Digiprove © 2021
