Problem23: Mr. Ramlal a grocer bought 10 bags of sugar for Rs 34,400 and spent Rs 600 on transportation. Find the selling price of 1 bag of sugar so as to make a gain of 20%.

Solution:

Here we total cost on bags ;

\[ =34400+600=35000 \]

So, Rs 35000 is the cost on 10 bags!

\[ 10 Bags=35000Rs \]

Hence,

\[ 1 Bag = \frac{35000}{10}=3500Rs \]

So, cost on 1 bag is Rs 3500

Gain is always calculated on Cost Price (CP)

so 20% of CP is ;

\[ 20 Percent= \frac{20}{100}\times CP \]

\[ =\frac{20}{100}\times3500=700 \]

So, Rs 700 is the 20% of the cost of 1 bag!

Hence to earn 20% gain he should sale 1 bag

=3500+700=4200 Rs
