Basic Math MCQ3 (Percentage of a number added to other number, what the number is ?)

MCQ3:60% of a number is added to 120, the result is the same number. Find the number?

a) 300                 b) 200                c) 400                b) 500

Solution:

Let the number is ‘x’

60% of ‘x’ \( =\frac{60}{100}\times x \)

If this is added to 120 then by given condition the result is same number ‘x’

Mathematically,

\[ \frac{60}{100}\times x+120=x \]

\[ \frac{60}{100}\times x=x-120 \]

\[ 60x= 100(x-120) \]

\[ 60x=100x-12000 \]

\[ 40x=12000 \]

\[ x= 300 \]

So the number is 300 , hence option a is correct
