Area Calculation MCQ 8: The ratio of the length and breadth of a plot is 3:2. If the breadth is 40 meters less than the length, what is the perimeter of the plot?

Solution:
Let the breadth of the plot is x meters.
Since breadth is 40 meters less than the length, so if we subtract 40 meters from length we will get the breadth !
i-e
if Length=L = x meters
then,
Breadth =B= (x-40) meters
But given that;
\[ \frac{L}{B}=\frac{3}{2} \]
so,
\[ \frac{x}{x-40}=\frac{3}{2} \]
\[ 2x=3x-120 \]
\[ x=120 \]
so,
\[ Breadth = x-40=120-40=80 \]
Perimeter of the rectangular plot then is ;
\[ Perimeter=L+B+L+B=2(L+B)=z(120+80)=2\times 200=400 \]
So the perimeter of the plot is 400 meters
